Ελιά και Δυόσμος (Olive & Μint) - Marina fine dining

I have to begin by saying, what a wonderful afternoon! I can't think of a better way to have spent this sunny afternoon other than dining at "Elia & Diosmos" (Olive & Μint), overlooking the sailboats, yachts and still waters of the Kalamata marina. I would put this restaurant in the category of fine dining and very 'fine' it was. The space was smart and chic, decorated with selected art pieces and calming colours. We particularly liked, that rather than accenting a wall with contrasting colour, they adopted this concept by accenting three tables, two red and one black as opposed to the open wood colour of the other tables. We had a good feeling about this place from our very first acquaintance.

As we glanced at the menu the friendly server dropped off a basket of bread and a small plate of olives, garnished with a mint leaf, as suggested in the restaurant's name. We dipped our bread in the olive oil to find that it was definitely local, fresh and most likely off the owner's farm. We continued to order our lunch starting with a Greek salad, a mixed green salad with parmesan and an order of zucchini fritters. Furthermore, for our main course, I had the carbonara and Iliana had the chicken fillet. The ambiance paired very well with wine so we ordered a half litre of red to go with our meals.

Each plate was tastier than the next! All of the appetizers were excellent and the zucchini fritters were perfectly fried without being overly greasy. I was impressed with my pasta as the cream sauce was evenly distributed and not at all overwhelming. Iliana's chicken fillet was served with very nice presentation and apart from being tasty and well complimented by the sauce, the chicken breast itself was juicy and cooked to perfection. It was evident that each dish was made and served with care as it should be in a gourmet restaurant. In addition, the portions were just right!

We are very content to have discovered Elia & Diosmos and will most certainly be back to sample the seafood on their menu. After treating us to some chocolate drizzled ice cream, the owner informed us that the restaurant will be moving to the bigger corner space just next door. We will be sure to visit them and recommend that you do too!
