Παγωτάκι κανείς?

Έπρεπε να φτάσουμε στην Καρδαμύλη για να φάμε ενα γευστικό παγωτό και μάλιστα χειροποίητο. Το Lola θα σας κερδίσει από τη πρώτη στιγμή, διότι στεγάζεται σε ένα τέλειο πέτρινο κτίριο, το οποίο είναι γεμάτο πανσέδες και εποχιακά πολύχρωμα λουλουδάκια. Πραγματικά κουκλίστικο!

Σα να μην έφτανε αυτό το θέαμα, μας περίμενε και άλλη μια έκπληξη στο «βάθος κήπος»…..Ένας μικρός κηπάκος με λευκά τραπεζάκια και ένα μοναστηριακό μεγάλο τραπέζι στη μέση, ήταν η ανταμοιβή του σημερινού ταξιδιού.

Κάνοντας για κάμποση ώρα χάζι, ήρθε ο ευγενικός κύριος – ιδιοκτήτης του Lola για να μας πάρει παραγγελία. Η Χρύσα πήρε το μαστιχωτό παγωτό με γεύση βανίλια Μαδαγασκάρης, αφού πρώτα πέρασε από το κουζινάκι, με σκοπό να διαλέξει ένα από τα τόσα topping! Αξίζει να σημειώσω πως αυτή η διαδικασία είναι ιεροτελεστική, διότι το κάθε topping, είναι τοποθετημένο σε ένα διαφορετικό κρυστάλλινο βαζάκι. 

Ας έρθει και μένα η σειρά επιτέλους! Μια σπιτική λεμονάδα επέλεξα, αλλά δεν είναι τόσο απλή, όσο ενδεχομένως να ακούγεται. Παραγγέλνοντας την, βγαίνει έξω η κ. Lola, για να κόψει μερικά φυλλαράκια δυόσμου από τα γλαστράκια της, τα οποία πρόσθεσε στη λεμονάδα μου. Ύστερα από όλη αυτή τη περιγραφή καταλαβαίνετε περί τίνος πρόκειται! Εύγευστη, όχι πολύ γλυκιά, με πραγματική γεύση λεμονιού!

Μετά από κανένα μισαωράκι, που σήμανε η ώρα της αναχώρησης, παραγγείλαμε ένα espresso και έναν ελληνικό καφέ , τα οποία συνοδεύονταν επίσης από ένα μικρό κερασματάκι, σύμφωνα πάντα με το είδος του καφέ. Αδημονούμε πότε θα βρούμε πάλι χρόνο να κάνουμε και άλλη επίσκεψη στο ΄Lola!

The Stoupa waters are "Ever Blue"

Long weekends are the best to get out of town and explore new places and new beaches. We headed east this time toward Mani and decided to combine our beachside relaxation with lunch at Kalogria Beach in Stoupa. We found "Ever Blue", a beach bar that had everything we were looking for to enjoy a long beach day, including an impressive location along the beach front.

We started by ordering lunch. There were many options on the menu, some of which were missing since that day was their opening day but nevertheless, there was lots to chose from. Furthermore, the prices were very reasonable for such a touristy area. We ordered the spinach salad made with strawberries, goji berries and a strawberry vinaigrette, a cold smoked salmon and penne salad, a club sandwich on wholewheat bread and a chicken burger with fries. The food met our expectations for beach bar snack foods. We especially enjoyed the burger and the club sandwich.

Lunch was followed by coffee and some fun playing paddle ball on the beach then returning to swing on the hanging basket seats in order to cool down. The staff was exceptionally friendly and went above and beyond to make sure that we were comfortable and content with our food and our overall experience. The owner went the extra mile to come and converse with us and to further inform us/invite us to their private dining room for small parties interested in planning their meals with the help of the kitchen staff. We may just have to take her up on that offer during our next visit to Kalogria beach!

ΑΛΚΥΟΝΙΔΕΣ……ΝΥΧΤΕΣ!

Μπορεί οι αλκυονίδες μέρες να πέρασαν προ πολλού, εμείς όμως επιλέξαμε σήμερα, Σάββατο βράδυ, την ταβέρνα Αλκυονίδες. Γνωστό μέρος, γνωστή κουζίνα, αλλά δεν γνωρίζαμε ότι προσφέρει βραδιές liveμουσικής. Οπότε με το που καθίσαμε, άρχισαν τα όργανα!

Ο χώρος μπορεί να μην είναι εντυπωσιακός, αλλά η διάθεση που σου προκαλεί η ορχήστρα σε συνδυασμό με το ελαφρολαϊκό ρεπερτόριο, είναι ότι πρέπει για να μερακλώσεις και να σου ανοίξει η όρεξη. 

Η παραγγελία μας είχε ως εξής: μια σαλάτα με το ομώνυμο του μαγαζιού, η οποία εκτός από τεράστια, ήταν πλούσια σε γεύση, το κοτόπουλο της κατσαρόλας με μανιτάρια, δεμένο με μια σως μουστάρδας και τέλος μια χοιρινή μπριζόλα με πατάτες, η οποία ήταν επίσης πληθωρική και καλοψημένη. 

Αφού ήπιαμε τα κρασάκια μας και άναψε το γλέντι για τα καλά, ρίξαμε και δυο στροφές πριν φύγουμε έτσι για το καλό! Στην υγεία μας ρε παιδιά!

Blossom Owl - Drip coffee with brunch.

At the heart of the Valaoritou square is where you will find the unique cafe "Blossom Owl". What's so special about this cafe are the many different types of coffee that they serve and the intricate coffee machines that grind the beans and drip the coffee as you sit and watch from the square. 

We paid a visit to Blossom Owl on a Sunday with a craving for brunch. We were warned that their kitchen stove was limited to one element that day and that there would be a conciderable wait for brunch so we decided to order a couple of coffees in the meantime. I had the Ethiopean beans drip coffee and Iliana her usual double Greek coffee that was served with two cubes of Turkish Delight. We ordered the Blossom Owl Breakfast that consisted of four courses, an omelette, cheese and meat plate, yogurt with fruit and a sweet mini crepe. This meal was served with orange juice and coffee.  We also ordered an egg and pancake with maple syrup. 

We enjoyed our coffees as we waited for brunch to arrive. As we had been informed, each plate came out one at a time with quite a wait inbetween. The Blossom Owl breakfast was great and filling. I was a bit disappointed with the pancake and egg since all the ingredients were stacked one on top of the other and were swimming in a puddle of maple syrup rather than having the greens on the edge of the plate and the maple syrup on the side. 

The wait was actually so long that our brunch ran into lunch and we decided to share a waffle sandwich as we felt the time was appropriate. The waffle sandwich was nice. From all the dishes our favourites were the omelette, the yogurt and the waffle sandwich. The very friendly server treated us to two fruit smoothie shots that were delicious. Overall, other than the maple syrup puddle, we really enjoyed our experience at Blossom Owl and can't wait to go back and try yet another funky drip coffee.

Black forest……τώρα και σε καφέ!

Τσαγκαροδευτέρα! Και έτσι για να μας πάει καλά η εβδομάδα, είπαμε να πάμε για ένα καφεδάκι στο κέντρο της πόλης. Μάλιστα ακούσαμε και για new opening, οπότε αδράξαμε την ευκαιρία!

Το καινούργιο καφέ, που βρίσκεται πίσω ακριβώς από το σιντριβάνι της κεντρικής πλατείας, άλλαξε διεύθυνση και λειτουργεί εδώ και ένα μήνα ως Black Forest. Ενώ ο έξω χώρος δεν μας εντυπωσίασε πολύ, λόγω πολύ σκοτεινών ομπρελών,  είπαμε να μην βιαστούμε να βγάλουμε συμπεράσματα και έτσι προχωρήσαμε προς τα ενδότερα. Και οφείλω να ομολογήσω πως ο μέσα χώρος είναι πολύ πιο φωτεινός και πρωτότυπα διακοσμημένος.

Μετά λοιπόν από τη φωτογράφηση και την καταγραφή των πληροφοριών, κάτσαμε για να πιούμε το καφεδάκι μας. Κάναμε όμως μια μικρή παρασπονδία, διότι παραγγείλαμε πάστα black forest, νομίζοντας πως θα ήταν το φόρτε του μαγαζιού, αλλά δυστυχώς δεν ήταν αυτό που περιμέναμε. Ήταν παραπάνω γλυκό από όσο θα έπρεπε. Όμως αυτό μην σας ανησυχεί, γιατί είναι υποκειμενικό! Άλλοι θέλουν τα γλυκά τους άγλυκα και άλλοι πετιμέζι!

Αυτό που μετράει ωστόσο είναι το σέρβις, το οποίο ήταν πολύ φιλόξενο και αρκετά βοηθητικό! Και μόνο για αυτό, νομίζω πως αξίζει μια δεύτερη ευκαιρία! Καλή σας μέρα!

Trilogia - Because beach weather is here!

If you are looking for somewhere to dine along the Kalamata beach Boardwalk for lunch, dinner or coffee, Trilogia is a good choice. First, there is a view from anywhere you might be sitting, either overlooking the waters of the Meditteranean or the swimming pools of the luxury hotel next door. Furthermore, the interior design of the restaurant is quite the view in itself whether you are outside on the beachfront deck, the balcony or inside the grand ballroom. For the best view, we sat on the balcony and it was worth it!

Now let's talk food. The server automatically dropped a plate of olive pâté with lalagia (fried bread sticks) on our table as well as a basket of warm bread. We ordered a green salad and zucchini fritters as starters. Iliana had the chicken fillet with mashed potatoes and I had the grilled sardines and the grilled veggies. Each plate was tastier than the next. The service was quick and pleasant, and to top it off, we were treated to fruit and halva for dessert served in a steel pan.

The view, the food and the service were excellent and definitely worth the price. The menu selection was great with options for everyone's preferences. The type of food served at Trilogia is Greek gourmet. The indoor ballroom is ideal for big events like parties, baptisms or even weddings. We would most certainly consider this venue for any of our personal events in the future.
